Last night Governor Hochul debated Lee Zeldin in their first gubernatorial debate and there was a very odd moment that happened when Lee Zeldin was talking about locking up criminals.
Zeldin put Hochul on the spot, suggesting the debate is half over and she still hasn’t talked about locking up people committing crimes.
MUST WATCH…Why are Dems in trouble in NY Gov? This attitude toward crime and safety
Zeldin: She still hasn't talked about locking up anyone committing any crimes
Hochul: Anyone who commits a crime under our laws…has consequences…I don't know why that's so important to you pic.twitter.com/uO3Vkf83OC

Hochul responded by saying there are consequences for people committing crimes, but then added “I don’t know why that’s so important to you”.
Amazing. What a bizarre thing to say for a state that struggles with crime, especially in New York City. It just shows you how callous Democrat officials are in the state regarding crime, which is a trend we are seeing all over the country among Democrats.
Lee Zeldin was really on his game last night. He torches the governor for focusing too much on guns and not the other crimes:

Here’s another response from him on the same issue:
Lee Zeldin: "There are criminals out there who need to pay the consequences for their actions, instead of the catch-and-release policies that Kathy Hochul champions." pic.twitter.com/DQPpOkHL5j

And another…
.@leezeldin: “My opponent still can’t finish the sentence … ‘New York leads the entire nation in population loss because.’”
“You ask me…because their wallets, their safety, their freedom, and the quality of their kids’ education are under attack.” pic.twitter.com/Ihtmxmneic

I tell you Lee Zeldin sounds fantastic in these clips. I just hope it translates into votes for him because Hochul has been a disaster for the state. But it’s an uphill battle in the Democrat stronghold, where polls show she’s leading by at least 6 points. I hope this debate moves the meter for him.
