This morning Governor Ron DeSantis nuked Trump after being asked about Trump’s criticism of him in the last couple of days.
In regard to Trump’s criticism, yesterday Trump suggested that DeSantis was a globalist. He also claimed, yesterday, that DeSantis was doing far worse that many other Republican governors and said that “he unapologetically shut down Florida and its beaches” during COVID.
As I recall, DeSantis shutdown certain beaches initially in Broward and Palm Beach counties and put restrictions on the number of people who could gather together on other statewide beaches. This was done in the month of March when COVID was brand new and we didn’t know much about it. Later on DeSantis opened up all the beaches statewide and had to fight local officials to get some beaches fully opened back up.
This criticism of DeSantis is particularly interesting considering that Trump called for state governors to shut down everything and also bragged that he could have shut down all of these states on his own if he wanted to.
It’s really amazing that Trump is attacking DeSantis like this when DeSantis has NEVER attacked Trump. The former president is just angry that DeSantis won’t kiss his ring and promise not to run against him in the 2024 Republican Primary.
As I said, DeSantis responded to Trump’s criticism this morning and it was beautiful.

“I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles. It’s been happening for many, many years. If you take a crisis situation like COVID, the good thing about it is when you’re an elected executive you have to make all kinds of decisions. You gotta steer that ship. And the good thing is that the people are able to render a judgment on that whether they reelect you or not. And I’m happy to say, you know, in my case, not only did we win reelection, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida. And so what I would just say is – that verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida.”
I love the way DeSantis handles criticism from Trump. He doesn’t even mention Trump and yet he still gets the better of him.
I have no idea if DeSanits is going to run in 2024 but this Trump criticism is just stupid.
