WATCH: Here are a few stellar moments from Amy Coney Barrett this morning

Amy Coney Barrett has had a few stellar moments today in her confirmation hearing and the first was when she was asked how it feels to be nominated to the Supreme Court:

Her answer was amazing. The first thing she says is that while she’s tried to be on a media blackout for her own mental health during this process, she is aware of caricatures floating around in the media. But she argues that while she’s made certain choices in her life regarding her career, her multiracial family and her faith, those are her choices and she’s never tried to push those choices on other people.

Barrett then explains why she agreed to be part of this ‘excruciating’ process, asking what sane person would endure having their family attacked, their faith caricatured and their lives combed over for any negative detail if there weren’t a benefit? She concludes that the benefit is that she is committed to the rule of law, the role of the Supreme Court in dispensing equal justice for all.

She noted that this would be difficult for anyone and she’s certainly not the only one who could do the job, but said that she was asked and doesn’t believe the difficulty of this process and job is a good enough reason to decline the job.

There was another moment from Amy Coney Barrett that stood out today and it was when she was asked by Senator Cornyn to hold up the paper in front of her own her desk:

Cornyn was pointing out that Barrett wasn’t depending on notes to give her answers, which he said was impressive. And it is. She’s clearly an intellectual heavyweight when it comes to both her legal decisions and those of others.

The last moment I’ll post here is Barrett’s response to a question about the George Floyd video and how it affected her and her family. It’s pretty powerful:
