WATCH: Heroes save puppy from flooded home! [OPEN THREAD]

This is a great end of day video of some great people going out on a boat to a home and saving a puppy in a flooded home.

Watch below:

So the real reason I created this thread was just to update you on what I’ve learned about the comment section throughout the day, which isn’t all that much.

1. Registrations and confirmation emails.

I’ve noticed a trend today, which is that people with local internet provider emails like scglobal.net, att.net and plenty of others, aren’t getting the confirmation emails – they aren’t being delivered for some reason. However people with gmail, yahoo, and other emails like those aren’t having any problems.

So if you are having issues, please send me an email via the tip or contact form and I’ll send you a temp password.

2. Let’s talk about notifications. They work as advertised.

Earlier in day one of the new system, I signed up to just get notifications of responses to MY comments. But I was still getting everything on the post. It was because I had subscribed to both everything and responses to my comments on multiple posts! In fact I had so many subscriptions I had to delete them all and start over – just to verify that it worked properly. It does, thankfully.

What I’ve done now, to clear up some of the confusion, is remove the option to subscribe to everything on a post. Now the only option is “Subscribe to all replies to my comments“. If you want the other one back, I can make that happen. But given that it’s email notifications, I think you’ll probably only want to see when someone replies to your comment.

3. I finally found the option to disable the annoying author popup hover. It was there all along, I just failed to see it. Now, to see the author bio popup, just click the username of the person and you’ll see it. Voila!

4. I found an option to highlight all the new comments on a post. The color should be yellow. When you hover over it the yellow goes away. The post will update at the top notifying you there are new comments. Just click it and the new posts will appear.

5. I had mistakenly removed the ‘Display name publicly as” drop down box on the profile page. I added it back today. So you can choose how your username displays.

6. Guest posting. I’m probably not going to leave this on much longer, which will mean you need to register. Maybe one more day. We’ll see.

I’m probably forgetting something, but that’s all I can think of at the moment.

UPDATE: I knew I was forgetting something. I also increased the avatar upload size to 1MB to aid some of you in uploading your bigger file sizes.

UPDATE: Registration is OPEN again!
