I’m sure Katy Tur wishes she could have this one back.
Yesterday on her show she actually tried to claim that there’s almost no middle class any longer under Trump, but John Podhoretz would not let her get away with, schooling her on what middle class actually means:
Podhoretz is exactly right. You can absolutely live paycheck to paycheck and still be middle class, because ‘middle class’ is an income level!
A general rule is that the middle class income level is defined as about $46k to $140k. You can absolutely make $50k and still live paycheck to paycheck, depending on how big your household is.
Also, according to a report in MarketWatch last year, America’s middle class is no longer shrinking. It’s stabilized:
The shrinking of America’s middle class has finally ground to a halt https://t.co/nVRrkgZpt6 #ETF #tracker

And by the way, even if the middle class was shrinking, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If more people are moving up the income ladder, that’s a good thing.
So on all points it appears Katy Tur really doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I’m just glad Podhoretz was there to give her a solid education for all her viewers to see!
