WATCH LIVE: Day Four of House Speaker elections – [UPDATE: House adjourned]

We are now in day four of the elections to choose a House Speaker and the voting resumes at noon.

With all the deal talk this morning, especially that there is no deal yet finalized, I wouldn’t expect anything to change in initial ballots today, which begins with the 12th ballot.

However they still have half an hour to iron out their differences so it’s possible they strike a deal before noon.

You can watch the voting below:

UPDATE: The 12th Ballot has begun. McCarthy, Jordan and Hern were nominated.

UPDATE 2: McCarthy has so far flipped at least two formerly anti-McCarthy votes, Dan Bishop and Josh Brecheen.

I’ve heard applause while posting this, so I think at least one more has flipped. This could be a very interesting vote.

UPDATE 3: And now four votes have flipped:

UPDATE 4: Make that five. Byron Donalds just voted for McCarthy:

UPDATE 5: There have been 5 votes in opposition to McCarthy, so we’ll be moving to a 13th ballot. But McCarthy clearly has gotten some of the opposition on his side. We’ll see how many when this is over.

UPDATE 6: McCarthy got 14 votes to flip. This includes Spartz, who was voting present.

UPDATE 7: The 13th ballot has begun. I expect it to go exactly the same way the 12th ballot went, with McCarthy getting 213 votes and being shy about 3 or 4 votes from a majority. We’ll see.

UPDATE 8: McCarthy has flipped another Republican, now leaving the opposition with 6 votes:

UPDATE 9: McCarthy has lost the 13th ballot, but he gained another vote, leaving the opposition with six votes. Looks like we’re headed for the 14th ballot.

UPDATE 10: The House has adjourned.

As always this is an open thread. Enjoy the Dodos:
