President Trump addressed the nation tonight regarding the spread of the coronavirus and what his administration would do to combat it. You can watch the full address below:
The biggest thing President Trump announced tonight was that he was banning all travel from Europe (UK exempted) for the next 30 days, starting on Friday night.
He also announced an effort try and mitigate the economic challenges the coronavirus is causing by asking Congress to provide payroll tax relief for business owners and financial relief for workers who are ill, quarantined, or taking care of others. He seemed to indicate that he would be able to extend some relief on his own, and then would ask Congress to extend it. I’m sure we’ll learn more on that later.
Lastly, Trump announced that he would be ordering the Small Business Administration to provide more loans to small businesses during this crisis and would also order the IRS to defer April 15 tax payments without interest or penalties to those who are affected by the coronavirus.
