When I saw McConnell on the Senate floor a few minutes ago, I was a little worried he might following in the RINO footsteps of Romney, Murkowski and Collins, who’ve all congratulate Biden on his ‘victory’. But he didn’t. Instead, he defending Trump’s challenge of the election results:
McConnell didn’t just say that Trump has a right to question voting irregularities. If he did that, I would have just called it lip service.
But rather he defended Trump’s legal challenges in five states with the well known precedent from 2000, where Al Gore put us through a recount that took until late December. But he didn’t stop there, he also reminded us of how Democrats disputed Bush’s re-election in 2004 for weeks after Bush had been declared the winner. He also mentioned how there were challenges and recounts in several states after President Trump was declared the winner in 2016.
McConnell then challenged Democrats, suggesting that if they believe the election result are legitimate then they should have nothing to fear from any extra scrutiny.
