WATCH: Mitch McConnell explains how impeachment will happen in the Senate once it passes the House

Tonight on Hannity, Mitch McConnell explained how impeachment will happen in the Senate once it passes the House:

McConnell made sure to point out several times that if it passes the House, the Senate must take up impeachment.

What happens from there, if I’m understanding this correctly, is that House Democrat lawyers will present their case for impeachment followed by the President’s lawyers presenting their case against impeachment. Then, if the White House doesn’t want to call any witnesses, the Senate votes and it’s over.

McConnell made clear several times that the House articles of impeachment are extremely weak and he even said “There’s no chance the president will be removed from office.” In fact he expects a few Democrats to come over and vote with Republicans.

McConnell also made clear several times that there will be no difference between his position and the White House’s position and he’ll be taking his cues from the White House:
