In his presser today, Paul Ryan said there is NO Planned Parenthood funding in the CR that they agreed to with the Democrats. He was adamant about that, pointing out that the actual defunding of Planned Parenthood couldn’t be in this bill anyway because appropriation bills require 60 votes.
Ryan says the defunding for Planned Parenthood is in the reconciliation bill (the one that doesn’t need Democrats to pass) because that’s where it needs to be to become law.
Ryan said the biggest win they got in this CR is the fact that they finally killed the parity that Obama required in spending bills, meaning that if you spend a dollar on military funding, you spend a dollar on domestic funding.
Ryan also touted the fact that the bill gives the biggest increase in border security funding in a decade. And a few other things as well.
