Today ABC News announced that they had secured an interview with John Bolton for this Sunday on his new book, which is to be released on June 23rd:
ABC News announced today that chief global affairs correspondent and “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” co-anchor Martha Raddatz will have the first exclusive interview with John Bolton, former National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, on his new book, “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir.” The one-hour prime-time special will air Sunday, June 21 (9:00–10:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.
The 592-page memoir and exclusive interview will take readers and viewers inside the decision-making process at the Trump White House. Bolton will provide a first-hand account of crucial moments including private meetings in the Oval Office, the Putin-Trump summit in Helsinki and the president’s historic meetings with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. For the first time publicly, Bolton will also present his account of the July 25, 2019, phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and discuss why he didn’t testify during the president’s impeachment trial.
John Bolton’s book “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir” will be released on June 23, 2020, by Simon & Schuster.
A few minutes ago during a presser, both President Trump and AG Barr said John Bolton shouldn’t be publishing his book, with Barr calling it ‘unprecedented’ and saying he hasn’t completed his declassification process and Trump saying it’s completely inappropriate:
President Trump, says it is "highly inappropriate" for @AmbJohnBolton to write a book on his time as national security adviser, claiming that it contains “highly classified information.”
“Maybe he’s not telling the truth, he’s been known not to tell the truth, a lot,” Trump said— Vivian Salama (@vmsalama) June 15, 2020
Trump asked AG Barr to weigh in on @AmbJohnBolton's book release. Barr said there is a process for clearing books, adding that Bolton "hasn’t completed the process." He said that publishing the book while Trump is in office is “unprecedented."

Trump pointed out that he considers conversations with himself to be highly classified, and said if Bolton publishes a book containing those conversations he will be facing criminal liability.
Barr’s point about this being ‘unprecedented’ is in reference to Bolton publishing a book so soon after being in the White House, “while the officeholders still in government and it’s about very current events and current leaders and current discussions and current policy issues, many of which are inherently classified.”
Barr stressed that Bolton has not completed the declassification process and that they are trying to get him to do that. When asked if he would seek legal action to force Bolton to comply, he would only say that they are trying to get Bolton to finish the process.
