Today Senator Rand Paul grilled DHS Secretary Mayorkas on his new ‘Ministry of Truth’ disinformation governance board, going rounds with him on the purpose and need of the board.

If you watch the entire clip, you’ll hear Mayorkas making this new board sound so ordinary and uncontroversial, claiming the board is only going to target misinformation that deals with government policy or what the government does.
You don’t need a disinformation governance board to do what he’s talking about.
No, he’s lying about it. When he announced the board the other day, he was talking specifically about combatting election misinformation and disinformation:
Rand Paul is absolutely right. We don’t need our government to be the arbiter of misinformation and disinformation. Or more importantly, we don’t trust our government to do this, especially when it’s in the hands of a pathological liar.
Good on Rand Paul for trying to hold these liars to account.
