WATCH: Republican Congresswoman delivers passionate speech on crisis in her home country of Ukraine

A Republican Congresswoman from Indiania, Rep. Victoria Spartz, gave a passionate speech this morning on the invasion of Russia in her home country of Ukraine.

Watch:

Spartz made clear that this isn’t just war, it’s genocide and that Russians are slaughtering people like animals.

She said the Russians are bombing civilians non-stop. She recounts a story from her 95-year-old mother who lives in Chernihiv, which is in the northeast portion of Ukraine on the border with Russia and Belarus, who told her that the Russians came into one village near Chernihiv and killed almost everyone with a heavy machine gun. The ones they didn’t kill, women and children she said, they forced to walk in front of the tanks as human shields.

Spartz called on Biden to get his act together and do more:

It is not a war, it’s a genocide because we have a crazy man who believes he has the whole world hostage. And then we have a president that talks about, talks about, and doesn’t do things. Is he going to wait until a million have died, then he’s going to do more?? We have not just a moral duty, we are the leaders of the free world! This is going to be the biggest genocide this world has ever experienced. And they aren’t asking us to fight for them, but they ask us to help, to become serious. They have the ability to defend themselves. Actually, they need to understand that we are serious about the sanctions, not do a little bit here, maybe we’ll do a little bit there…

I can tell you one thing. If we don’t stop him there, he is not going to stop. He is going to go further. And then, we’ll have to send our children to die to fight this. So I think we have an obligation and duty to save this world, help Ukrainian people to survive, and this president needs to get his act together and exercise some leadership. What’s happening under his watch is atrocity. What [Putin] is doing to this country and to the world is unforgivable.

I think we’ll get together as Republicans and Democrats but he must act decisively, fast, or the blood of many millions of Ukrainians will be on his hands too…

To be clear, Spartz isn’t calling on Biden to send troops to Ukraine. She’s calling him to implement tougher sanctions and send more weapons to Ukrainians to help them defend themselves.
