This morning Senator Rand Paul got into a heated exchange with Dr. Fauci over gain-of-function research that NIH funded at the Wuhan lab.

Dr. Fauci unequivocally denies that the NIH funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, claiming that a paper which Rand Paul made available in the hearing was determined by professionals to not be gain-of-function.
Paul disputes it, saying it fits the very definition of gain-of-function. But Fauci claims it does not and tells Paul that he does not know what he’s talking about.
Paul tells Fauci that he’s playing with language because he doesn’t want to take responsibility for funding gain-of-function research in a lab that caused the epidemic. Fauci calls Paul a liar and, as I said, it got heated.
I have to say I laughed at the very end when Fauci points his big old finger at Paul and calls him a liar, and Paul just takes a swig from his water bottle. A classic moment.
