WATCH: Ted Cruz explains his relationship with Trump since the 2016 primary

With Trump set to hold a big rally for Ted Cruz tonight in Houston, some in the media are reminding everyone of Ted Cruz’s knock-down, drag-out fight with Trump back in the 2016 primaries.

In fact that was the focus of the questioning from ABC News in their interview with Ted Cruz. So he obliges and explains.

Watch below:

(it’s cued up at 2:03 and ends at 3:44)

Cruz explains that he could have let his hurt feelings after the 2016 primary drive him away from Trump but if he’d done that, he notes, he would have been abdicating his job as Texas Senator.

So instead Cruz decided, given the rare opportunity that Republicans have controlling both Houses of Congress and the Presidency, that he would roll up his sleeves and work with Trump on getting big stuff done.

There’s more in the cued up portion of the video above about Cruz’s “disagreement” with the administration over separating kids and parents at the border, so be sure and watch it. You can watch the entire video if you want, but they also interview Beta and talk about the 2016 races on both sides of the Ted Cruz portion I cued up above.
