WATCH: Ted Cruz explains the truth about school shootings after leftist reporter confronted him in Uvalde

Ted Cruz was confronted by a British reporter in Uvalde the other day who wanted to know what Ted Cruz wanted to do about guns since mass shootings only happen in the US. The reporter literally attacked American exceptionalism, saying “why is this American exceptionalism so awful?”

According to Breitbart, this is the same reporter who gave a voice to the Israel-hating co-founder of Hamas.

Cruz talked about the incident on his podcast, explaining what happened with the Sky News propagandist and how the press is wildly dishonest when they claim mass shootings only happen in America.

Cruz read from a Newsweek article by John Lott that exposes how the US is actually very low when it comes to the number of public mass shootings in a per-capita comparison. And the majority of them involve handguns:

Since 1998, there have been a total of nine attacks similar to the Robb Elementary School shooting. Nine is nine too many. But once you adjust for population, there are many other countries, from Germany to Russia to Finland, that have comparable rates of school shootings.

Nor do most mass public shootings involve “assault weapons.” Fifty-five percent involve only handguns, and only 11 percent solely involve rifles of any variety.

He also quoted from Lott’s Crime Prevention Research Center which states that the US makes up less than 1.13% of all mass public shooters:

The U.S. is well below the world average in terms of the number of mass public shootings, and the global increase over time has been much bigger than for the United States.

Over the 20 years from 1998 to 2017, our list contains 2,772 attacks and at least 5,764 shooters outside the United States and 62 attacks and 66 shooters within our country. By our count, the US makes up less than 1.13% of the mass public shooters, 1.77% of their murders, and 2.19% of their attacks. All these are much less than the US’s 4.6% share of the world population. Attacks in the US are not only less frequent than other countries, they are also much less deadly on average.

Out of the 101 countries where we have identified mass public shootings occurring, the United States ranks 66th in the per capita frequency of these attacks and 56th in the murder rate.

Not only have these attacks been much more common outside the US, the US’s share of these attacks has declined over time. There has been a much bigger increase over time in the number of mass shootings in the rest of the world compared to the US.

Nobody in the media will look into the facts about mass shootings like John Lott. And if you bring up John Lott, they’ll just claim he’s a right-winger and dismiss it.

But I’m glad Ted Cruz is pushing this with this podcast so hopefully it helps break through the lies told by the media on this.
