Yesterday on the Senate floor Ted Cruz introduced bipartisan legislation that would ensure our military will get their paychecks should a government shutdown happen next week. But Democrats objected, refusing to allow unanimous consent for the bill to be passed.
Here’s the very short version posted by the GOP:

What is interesting about this is that Cruz said last week he introduced similar bipartisan legislation, except it was only aimed at the Coast Guard because they are under Homeland Security and not under DOD. But Senator Pat Murray from Washington state claimed she was objecting because the bill didn’t cover the entire military.
So yesterday Ted Cruz did what she asked and crafted bipartisan legislation for the entire military to be paid in the event of a government shutdown. And she still objected, as you see above.
When the military don’t get their paychecks next week, it isn’t the fault of Republicans. It is Democrat leadership that wants our military to suffer for their political gain.
