WATCH: Ted Cruz reacts to the $2 trillion stimulus plan that passed the Senate last night

As Ted Cruz was leaving the Senate last night, he was asked by a reporter to respond to the bill’s unanimous passage. Here’s what he had to say:

Cruz said he’s glad the bill passed and that it’s an extraordinary milestone in spending.

“Two trillion dollars in spending in one day,” Cruz says. “That is unprecedented, but the crisis we’re facing is unprecedented. We’ve got a global health pandemic and we’ve got economic disaster following close behind. WE’ve got millions of Americans who are hurting, who have lost their jobs, who are scared.”

Cruz goes on to argue this emergency relief package has a lot of good elements, especially for people making $75,000 or less who will receive a check for $1,200 and $500 for every child they have.

He says it also provides $350 billion in emergency loans to small business, which will be automatically forgiven if the money is used to pay the salaries of their employees to keep them on payroll.
