WATCH: The world’s DUMBEST thief has his gun taken away from him…

Thankfully not all thieves are bright and this definitely applies to a thief in Paducah, Kentucky, who tried to rob a Country Inn and Suites this week and ended up having his gun taken away from him:

There is no audio in the video, but you can clearly tell that the clerk is no pushover. She apparently makes him get on the other side of the counter and then, when he goes to stuff the money into a plastic bag, he lays his gun on the counter and she grabs it. Doh!

Here’s what the police wrote about it on Facebook:

An employee told police the man came in and brandished a handgun, demanding money. The clerk eventually threw money on the counter and the robber placed his gun on the countertop to put the money into a plastic bag. The clerk grabbed the gun and pointed it at the robber and he fled. He came back inside the business, and the clerk again pointed the gun at him. The robber then turned and fled in a dark-colored passenger car.

The handgun was recovered at the scene. The white shirt and sock hat were recovered nearby on McBride Lane. Paducah police detectives are investigating.

If I had been the clerk and this idiot tried to jump the counter to get his gun back, I’d have done more than point it at him. He would have had at least one bullet hole in him and he might not have survived. He is a very lucky thief.

But his luck only went so far…

KFVS 12 – Cory T. Phillips, 26, of West Paducah, Ky., was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery and receiving stolen property (firearm).

Police say he was arrested after a routine traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies say the stopped a gray Dodge Stratus on Bridge Street in Paducah after the deputy saw the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the deputy, the driver, Cory Phillips, was acting nervous, so he started questioning him.

In the car, the deputy found an Apple computer that had been reported stolen in the same burglary of the home on Adams Street, and a white t-shirt like the one found near the robbery scene.

Phillips was interviewed at the police department and charged. He was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Very glad the cops arrested him. Hopefully he’ll be in jail long enough for him to rethink his life at this point.
