Trump was briefly asked about the controversy around what he said to the military widow and here’s how he responded:
Pres. Trump denies he was insensitive to widow of soldier killed in Niger: "I didn't say what that congresswoman said." pic.twitter.com/WyWUVXqh53
— CBS News (@CBSNews) October 18, 2017
He’s adamant that he didn’t say what the Congresswoman reported that he said and he repeats that few times. But it’s also notable he didn’t mention having ‘proof’ this time. He just said let her make her statement again or something.
If Trump really had proof that he was willing to disclose, I think he would have teased it like he normally does when he has an impending announcement.
Frederica Wilson was on The View via phone today (of course) and here’s how she characterized what Trump said:
Rep. Frederica Wilson: Trump kept referring to Sgt. Johnson as "your guy. He never called his name. It was almost as if he forgot his name." pic.twitter.com/LT8qXaZPJU

Trump does like to speak this way in general, so it is somewhat believable that he’d say ‘your guy’. I don’t think he meant any disrespect by it but I could see how it could be taken that way.
So whatever.
Just fyi, this was Michelle Malkin’s response to this today:
I call bullshit. This is hearsay, uncorroborated, and out of context pot-stirring by Dem partisans riding the impeachment bandwagon--and recycled by lemmings masquerading as journalists.#fakenews https://t.co/Fmi8XJVlny
