WATCH: Trump puts the blame for two dead migrants SQUARELY on Democrats…

The New York Times is running a horrible photo on their front page of two dead migrants laying face-down in the Rio Grande.

They say they are trying to highlight the perilous plight of migrants as they try to enter the US, but this is very problematic.

Let me first say that this is absolutely tragic and I hate that it happened. This isn’t what anyone wants.

But unfortunately it happened because of the choices made by this family to illegally cross into the US:

SUN SENTINEL – According to Le Duc’s reporting for La Jornada, Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez, frustrated because the family from El Salvador was unable to present themselves to U.S. authorities and request asylum, swam across the river on Sunday with his daughter, Valeria.

He set her on the U.S. bank of the river and started back for his wife, Tania Vanessa Ávalos, but seeing him move away the girl threw herself into the waters. Martínez returned and was able to grab Valeria, but the current swept them both away.

Details of the incident were confirmed Tuesday by a Tamaulipas state government official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, and by Martínez’s mother back in El Salvador, Rosa Ramírez, who spoke with her daughter-in-law by phone afterward.

“When the girl jumped in is when he tried to reach her, but when he tried to grab the girl, he went in further … and he couldn’t get out,” Ramírez told the AP. “He put her in his shirt, and I imagine he told himself, ‘I’ve come this far’ and decided to go with her.”

The Tamaulipas government official said the family arrived in Matamoros early Sunday and went to the U.S. Consulate to try to get a date to request asylum. The mother is 21 years old and the father was 25, he added.

But waits are long there as elsewhere along the border. Last week, a shelter director said only about 40 to 45 asylum interviews were being conducted in Matamoros each week, while somewhere in the neighborhood of 800-1,700 names were on a waiting list.

It’s not clear what happened to the family at the U.S. Consulate, but later in the day they made the decision to cross. The Tamaulipas official said the father and daughter set off from a small park that abuts the river. Civil defense officials arrived at the scene at 7 p.m. Sunday and later took the wife to the shelter.

It’s incredibly unfortunate and I’m moved by the photo. But this is something that our ridiculous asylum laws have created and just a few minutes ago Trump put the blame squarely on the Democrats for this and other deaths like it:

Trump isn’t wrong here. Yes, the choice was made by the family to cross. But they wouldn’t even be here if they didn’t think they could get in via asylum and Democrats flatly refuse to stop this madness.

The family wasn’t even planning on staying in the US for but a couple of years. They didn’t want to be citizens and assimilate into the US. They simply wanted to earn just enough money to build a house and then they’d go back, according to the Sentinel.

Our asylum laws must be changed. What will it take for Democrats to change them?

  1. Put the blame squarely with Democrats who lured them here to create chaos. Democrats planned it, financed it, encouraged it, provided sanctuary, provided health care, provided welfare, provide voting rights, defend and support violent criminals, terrorists, drug cartels, human smugglers and child sex traffickers at our Mexican border

There is nothing humanitarian in tacitly encouraging tens of thousands of children to risk their lives, often at the hands of cutthroat smugglers, to enter this country illegally.

  2. I wonder if they have counts for the number of dead found in the desert or the river etc. I know personally that during the 80’s and 90’s the agents can’t count the number found…In other words, it’s lots. What did the government do? Well they installed water for them at the border line..It’s the weak attempts at them not wanting to fix anything….Trump needs to get to criticizing his own party…the ones who have been there forever and will not and are not going to support his candidacy for re-election. He will win on it…

  3. “But unfortunately it happened because of the choices made by this family to illegally cross into the US.”
That’s exactly right. You nailed it.

  4. This is why I love Trump when dealing with the media. They try to put him on the defense and he just turns it around and puts them on defense! After all, it was Jim Acosta and many in the leftist media/Congress who said this is a “manufactured crisis”.

  5. Just a few days ago a drunk illegal alien from the Ukraine plowed his truck into seven Marines killing them. WHY THE HELL DOES A MAN DRAGGING HIS FAMILY TO OUR BORDER TO ILLEGALLY TRAMPLE OUR LAWS AND OUR BORDER AND IN THE PROCESS DROWNS ALONG WITH HIS INNOCENT BABY MATTER MORE? Why isn’t anyone bringing this up? I am getting sick and tired of illegals being a priviledge class because democrats say so. Stop giving them that narrative. Throw back in their faces the lives of citizens of this country killed by illegal aliens.

    1. I didn’t know that the person who did that was a drunk illegal. Thank you for that info! The mainstream media has devolved into nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Marxist Dems.

    2. I am from Maine and it is being talked about here in New England but not so much by national news. Very tragic for all the family and friends.

      1. @celestiallady I heard that he was a drunk, arrested several times, but nothing about being illegal.

        1. I haven’t seen anything that clearly states what his status is. One article said he had a green card and another said he is a legal resident but nothing stating he is an actual citizen.

  6. Levin put my post on his facebook with this:

The president is exactly right. For months the Democrats mocked the crisis on the border. Then they sought to REDUCE detention beds. Then they refused additional funds for the Border Patrol and ICE. Then they refused to reform the asylum laws. Then they refused to fund additional physical barriers on the border. Then they refused to fund more immigration judges. And now they blame the president for the disaster they’ve created and still refuse to fix it, and their media mouthpieces go along with all of it.

The great one has a great memory.

    1. @therightscoop So true! Unfortunately, the media has been so successful at bashing Trump and anything he says or does, that the left and stupid democrats think it’s a fake crisis.

My own mother, who only watches the left-wing media, laughed at me when I told her that we need to build a wall because this crisis is so out of hand. She thought it was ridiculous and not true that there was a crisis, and my mother is not stupid, she’s just indoctrinated.

She’s been convinced by the media and some left wing friends that Fox news is right wing and all of the shows that I listen to (Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Steve Deace, etc.) are all right wing even though pretty much everything they say comes true!

God help us when seemingly normal people like my mom have been so convinced of the left-wing agenda that she can’t see the truth. She used to be the one with common sense but I feel I’ve lost her to the left. My sisters and I purposefully don’t bring up politics anymore because it’s an argument every time and she doesn’t believe us. Very frustrating.

  7. So, the Democrats and Media are basically standing on the corpses of these two would-be illegals to push an open borders agenda. Disgusting.

They do the same thing when trying to undermine the second amendment. Trot out the bodies and blame it on guns. Here they’re trotting out the bodies of drowned would-be illegals to score points.

  8. Trump is correct – the democrat party is to blame for every illegal who dies attempting to invade the United States.

  9. Deaths that were totally uncalled for because all they had to do was get in line, not be a terrorist, show good intent, and have patience.

  10. “They simply wanted to earn just enough money to build a house and then they’d go back, according to the Sentinel.”

DUDE!! Sentinel! How’d you know that?

  11. It’s incredibly unfortunate and I’m moved by the photo.

You know, I was chewing on this before I replied to it because I couldn’t decide if I agreed or disagreed.

    I’ve decided. I disagree.

It’s not unfortunate, and I’m not moved by the photo at all. Yea, human life and all that – but the fact remains that these were criminals in the active commission of a crime. And the whole point of the photo is to make you forget that. To lament the tragic loss and build empathy for these people. It’s propping up a couple corpses to manipulate you into ignoring the reality of what happened.

I have no empathy for them. If they want to come and apply for asylum and enter the legal immigration process, great – I’m 100% for it. If they want to sneak across the river and try to get in just so they can “earn just enough money” and then leave? Or worse, stay? No, f*** you. If they die, they brought it on themselves. Hand them a Darwin Award, and watch as I give zero f***s.

This whole narrative by the left to paint border jumpers as anything but criminals? “Migrants.” “Undocumented.” “Women and children.” “Persecuted by poverty.” No. This whole narrative by the left to call me a cold-hearted monster because I refuse to be manipulated? No.

I’m not playing that game. These are criminals. Period.

    1. AT,just a wonderful response. If I could have responded as well as you just did,I would have. I would love to see these three or four postings appear in the NY Times Op-Ed.Thanks ,have a great evening.

    2. @atomicsentinel It is a crime, but motivations matter too. It’s not like they were bonnie and clyde robbing banks and getting killed in the process.

      1. Scoop, I was listening to Lars Larson today and he had a call from a law enforcement officer that the Creep that took this video, also videoed the before while they were alive struggling in the water and didn’t help. Of course this sleeze only showed the part that he knew would hurt or try to hurt Trump…We need to track this loser down….

      2. That’s how it begins. That’s what I was chewing on. Yea, the emotional aspect of it is sad. Tragic even. But the emotional side what NYT etc use to manipulate. A consideration here, a compromise there – and suddenly we’re not looking at border jumpers illegally crossing, rather we’re looking at poor tragic families and their terrible plight. Which warms society up for, “We should really do something for them to prevent this.”

No, we shouldn’t. We shouldn’t prevent it.

No different than the threat the feminists levy over back-alley abortions. “Oh those poor women being butchered in some hole,” they say – hoping to get you to understand that their position is better than that scenario. But it’s not. The back-alley abortion victim brought it on herself just the same. And took a kid with her.

We can’t let tragedy jaundice our perception of reality. That way lies madness.

    3. I think you’re offended and enraged at the blatant attempt to use this incident to manipulate you based on “feelings.”

I am offended as well. But I also pity this poor child whose father endangered her. And I even pity this father who believed the leftist promise to overlook his crime if he would just vote democrat. He was wrong to try and cut the line. But I still pity him and certainly have pity for the child.

      1. Pity is one thing. Empathy and sympathy are another.

If dad took his daughter (whether informed or naive) to a B&E because she was small enough to fit through the basement window and get in to unlock the door, and they both ended up dead in the end – well, I’m sorry, but I’m simply not going to accept the narrative as the tragedy of a little girl dying.

The story is a breaking and entering. Period. I’m not moved by the tragedy that happened to accompany it.

        1. I agree with one exception. The story would be breaking entering AND the reckless child endangerment the father committed.

We do not throw out our humanity by acknowledging both and we do not abandon our commitment to law and order by acknowledging both either.

          1. The latter has a way of overshadowing the former. Regardless of how it came to be, that little girl shouldn’t have been there. That’s tragic, but the fact remains that she was a (perhaps unwitting) accomplice to and participant in a crime.

  12. That river can kill experienced swimmers, a two year old shouldn’t have been left alone for a minute.

  13. It is ashame that a post-census redistricting advantage means so much to the Democrats that they are willing to encourage folks to enter the United States illegally, an illegal entry attempt resulting in an innocent child’s death. Having stated that…

…With free-will comes personal responsibility. Period.

  14. Democrats must be salivating at the thought of a socialist president. What a pathetic and hopeless country America will become if that happens!

  15. These people aren’t even real asylum seekers. The father wasn’t making enough money at a pizza joint, that’s why they came. I worked with a Mexican guy who bragged that he just worked long enough to make the money to “live like a king” back home, and come back and do it again.

    1. Warren went in and said they were “marching” the kids around like prisoners. All the media there asked the typical b.s. questions because they lacked the testicular fortitude to press her.

      1. Would you say they were marching the children around like they were 1/1024 of a citizen?
      2. Did you volunteer to cook food for the children, and if so, will you be using one of your recipes from “Pow Wow Chow”?
      3. Did you communicate your concerns with the tribal elders?
      4. Did you do so using smoke signals?
      5. Did you attempt to lay claim to the facility by admonishing the white man for stealing this land and offering them tobacco and horses to get it back?
      6. Would you scalp Donald Trump if you were handed an obsidian blade?
      7. If Kevin Costner offers himself as a mediator, would you accept?
      8. Would you and your tribe be willing to war with the Seminoles for this land?
      9. Will Alyssa Milano be given the native name “Lies Like A Whore”?
      10. Do you trust Buttigieg to not dress the children in drag?

  17. Imagine that if an American citizen took his two-year-old-child and attempted to “escape” the hellish conditions in the U.S. and instead of BOTH of them drowning, only the child dies. He would be extradited and locked up without bail while awaiting trial.

Why would this be viewed ANY differently. Parents that would put their child as risk is unworthy of being parents and should have their children taken away and stripped of their parental rights.

That said; this is not a question of “What Drives Parents to do this to their children?” The question is “What DRAWS Parents to do this to their children?”

The answer is obvious: They know that they have a virtually guaranteed RIGHT to get into the U.S. PERMANENTLY and get about a million dollars worth of freebies for their trouble, all thanks to Democrats and their idiotic Sanctuary zones and abject refusal to protect actual, tax-paying citizens in favor of growing their constituencies with NEW prospective citizens in the coming generations.

Democrats are utterly UNWORTHY of public trust. Friends do not let friends vote Democrat.

  19. To blame Trump for those deaths is the height of idiocy. He didn’t pressure them to come to the US, come hell or high water. Free money and benefits made the man endanger his child by making the hazardous trip. The media are a bunch of liars, as if we didn’t already know that, but it’s coming time that they need to pay the price for such lying. It’s way past time to expose the Dems for their inept efforts to ruin a president and his loyal base. If it weren’t so tragic, it would be comical as hell.

  22. Put the blame squarely on the people who deserve it – the parents. They dragged their family here. They had no intention of becoming citizens they just wanted to use us as their piggy bank. Sadly this little girl paid for their foolishness.

No one with a heart can look at that image and not be touched. That baby should have been back home in her own bed.

And there should be a special place in hell for all those using that image to play their damn politics.

    1. I’ve been disgusted today by the dems virtue signaling, and by them suggesting that the only compassionate response is to open the borders and give the refugees anything they want.

  25. “Hands up don’t shoot!”

The Ds/media only want their narrative. It’s unbelievable the crap Trump has had to put up with.
They are trying to personally destroy him and his family and sabotage his entire presidency.

  26. Democrats must be salivating at the thought of a socialist president. What a pathetic and hopeless country America will become if that happens!

  27. Off Topic: no thread about the big Dem debate tonight? Just clicked on CNN and they are already getting squishy in their panties about it.

      1. I really just wanted to use the term “squishy in their panties” ….in some kind of context. 🙂

  28. He is absolutely right to blame the Democrats. First, because they lure them here with the promise of “free stuff”. They want as many to come in as possible in hopes they can all vote for the Democrats to get the promised “free stuff. Because they want as many here as possible, AND because they want Trump to look bad, they absolutely REFUSE to fund anything or change the laws. It is SQUARELY on the power hungry Democrats!

  29. The father deserves most of the blame for concocting such a plan to illegally get his family into the States. The border patrols in the countries he had to pass are also to blame for allowing this. And yes, the Democrats are also to blame for their part. It is heartbreakingly tragic.

  30. “But unfortunately it happened because of the choices made by this family to illegally cross into the US.”
That’s exactly right. You nailed it.

          1. @celestiallady I read it over at Conservative Review. Sorry I can’t link to it.

    2. I didn’t know that the person who did that was a drunk illegal. Thank you for that info! The mainstream media has devolved into nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Marxist Dems.

  44. How come they never front-paged a photo of dead bank robbers whose attempt at a crime didn’t play out the way they hoped? You know, so we can empathize with them and point a blamey-finger at someone or whatever.

    1. Pay attention, because they do run those exact type of photos. The headlines usually read something along the line of:

      “Officers Murder Black Man”

        1. Don’t go to bed with no price on your head,
Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.
Don’t roll the dice if you can’t pay the price.

          1. The price is arrest, due process, a fair trial, and humane imprisonment. Not summary murder at the hands of enforcement.

            1. Most offenders survive by doing what they are told and not making quick or questionable movements during their arrest. One must cooperate in order to reach the due process and fair trial parts.

              1. Agreed. But that’s neither here nor there. You’re talking about cops murdering (in this case, black) people.

That’s a whole different scenario than when a cop is forced to self-defend against a dangerous, non-compliant suspect.

    2. These kind of photos push their narrative and sell subscriptions. Those kinds of photos don’t.

  45. “Hands up don’t shoot!”

The Ds/media only want their narrative. It’s unbelievable the crap Trump has had to put up with.
They are trying to personally destroy him and his family and sabotage his entire presidency.

  46. Off Topic: no thread about the big Dem debate tonight? Just clicked on CNN and they are already getting squishy in their panties about it.

      1. I really just wanted to use the term “squishy in their panties” ….in some kind of context. 🙂

  48. The father deserves most of the blame for concocting such a plan to illegally get his family into the States. The border patrols in the countries he had to pass are also to blame for allowing this. And yes, the Democrats are also to blame for their part. It is heartbreakingly tragic.

  49. He is absolutely right, the Demoncrats started this and if I remember correctly actually advertised for the people to come.

  50. How come they never front-paged a photo of dead bank robbers whose attempt at a crime didn’t play out the way they hoped? You know, so we can empathize with them and point a blamey-finger at someone or whatever.
