Trump was asked this morning, while he is overseas in Poland, what he thought about CNN’s response to the wrestling tweet and how they threatened to doxx a man who they thought created it.

Of course Trump spoke in very general terms, saying CNN hurt themselves “very badly” with their response to the tweet and said they now have some “pretty serious problems”. He also called them ‘fake news’ again, saying we don’t want fake news but rather honest and fair news. Etc. Etc. Etc.
What Trump should have added is that he never should have put out the tweet in the first place. Of course he can’t control how CNN or any other news organization responds, but it was unpresidential for him to even tweet it and I wish he’d own up to that. Yes, I know he would never do that, but in my mind he is partly to blame for starting this whole mess.
CNN is also very much to blame because they just wanted to use the tweet to dig up dirt on Trump and that’s the whole reason they went after the reddit user. They didn’t care about the meme itself – it was stupid – they just wanted to implicate the president with whatever racist crap they could find from that user.
So while Trump isn’t necessarily wrong in his answer, it’d be nice if he could have been more honest about his unpresidential tweet.
