In an interview with Axios, Trump withheld praise of John Lewis when asked what he thought of the man:
.@jonathanvswan: "How do you think history will remember John Lewis?"
— Axios (@axios) August 4, 2020
As Jonathan Swan questioned Trump about Lewis, Trump quickly stated what he does remember about John Lewis, that Lewis didn’t attend his inauguration. Now the media will portray this as petty, but remember why Lewis chose not to attend Trump’s inauguration. He didn’t attend in protest, because he didn’t believe Trump was a legitimate president. Like many liberals, Lewis was experiencing butthurt because Trump beat Hillary. So he refused to attend the inauguration on that basis and tried to make a big deal about it. It was a pretty nasty thing to do to be honest.
Lewis also refused to attend Trump’s State of the Union. And while we’re going down memory lane, he also gave a speech on the House floor supporting Trump’s impeachment and then voted to impeach Trump.
