An unmanned Spacex test flight just exploded a few moments ago on a hard landing:
Clearly the capsule came into hard and too fast in order to land.Perhaps one of their engines failed and they couldn’t get enough thrust to slow the capsule?
Whatever happened, it was their next generation spacecraft and I’m sure we’re talking billions of dollars.
UPDATE: Elon Musk doesn’t seem dismayed by it. Also he explains that the fuel pressure was low and that’s what caused the crash:
Fuel header tank pressure was low during landing burn, causing touchdown velocity to be high & RUD, but we got all the data we needed! Congrats SpaceX team hell yeah!!
