Ted Cruz said in a hearing today, where he was questioning the Capitol Police Chief, something that is sure to raise eyebrows among many on the right:
Cruz’s comments begin at the beginning of the video, where he condemned the Capitol riot on January 6th as a violent terrorist attack.
Honestly, I don’t understand calling it a violent terrorist attack. That’s just about as bad as calling it a armed insurrection. Not quite, but close.
I get that he, as a Senator who was in the building at the time, condemns it and wants to be seen condemning it. Heck I condemn it as well. But it wasn’t a terrorist attack. It wasn’t an insurrection. It was a riot that is more akin to trespassing than it is to terrorism.
Sure, it was somewhat violent. More in terms of destruction of property, but there were a small number who fought with cops. I’ll give him that. But to call it terrorism just sounds kinda ridiculous.
