It’s ancient history now, but Cruz was a pretty big critic of Trump on immigration. At one point he pointedly said to his supporters that they would be betrayed by him on immigration. He also pitched immigration policies that were farther right than Trump’s, and saw his plan to ban people from terrorist Muslim countries co-opted by Trump after people pointed out a “Muslim ban” was probably unconstitutional…
