It’s being reported tonight that Trump is not going to choose Cuccinelli to be acting DHS Secretary. Rather, he’s going to pick the Nielsen’s former Chief of Staff that we reported on a few days ago:
AXIOS – The White House is set to name Chad Wolf as acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, according to Politico and confirmed by Axios.
Wolf will succeed current acting secretary Kevin McAleenan, who ended his tenure Thursday. McAleenan stepped down earlier this month amid ongoing tensions with the White House.
Wolf is a current senior department official and was nominated by President Trump in February to serve as undersecretary for the Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans.
It sounds like it’s over based on this reporting. I hope it’s wrong.
Because if you recall, Wolf is said to be part of the swamp who is committed to stopping Trump’s agenda from within:
Wolf was a long time ally of Nielsen's in the WH and one of the people committed to stopping the Trump agenda from within the administration. I cited him back in April 2019 as one of the worst people inside DHShttps://t.co/9XnELT3DfK

And yet this is who Trump chooses? Aside from Twitter, Trump’s greatest weakness as president is his hiring. He told us in 2016 that he hires the best people, but that’s clearly not been his track record.
FAIR calls Wolf an “outsourcing lobbyist”:
And just like that, an outsourcing lobbyist will lead DHS. https://t.co/62hJqNbjst

Before joining the Trump Administration, Chad Wolf was a lobbyist who worked to try and increase the number of H1b visas… he’s now being considered for DHS Secretary according to my sourceshttps://t.co/L3chfwqiep

And lastly, Girdusky says Wolf is going to purge Trump people from DHS:
because that is what Wolf is going to do… he has a list of ppl he's going to get rid of and they're all Trump people. The Kelly/Nielsen wing of DHS are taking power again.

So when Trump ends up firing this guy in the future because they were butting heads too much, you’ll know he was warned beforehand not to hire him.
