White House DEFENDS absurd talking point that Republicans defunded cops [VIDEO]

The left has come up with a new absurd talking point to try and distract from their own terrible policies, as well as make it look like Republicans are the ones who defunded cops when we all know it came from their own ranks, including Joe himself.

Here’s what Psaki had to say about this today:

Peter Doocy: “Something one of the adviser said this weekend, Cedric Richmond. He said ‘Republicans defunded the police by not supporting the American rescue plan.’ But how is it that that is an argument to be made when the president never mentioned needing money for police to stop a crime wave when he was selling the American rescue plan.”

Jen Psaki: “Well, the president did mention that the American rescue plan, the state and local funding, something that was supported by the president, lot of Democrats who supported and voted for the bill could help ensure local cops were kept on the beat in communities across the country. As you know, didn’t receive a single Republican vote. That funding has been used to keep cops on the beat.”

Peter Doocy: At the time that was sold in these local police departments might have a pandemic related budget shortfall night, not we need to keep cops on the beat because there’s crime wave.”

Jen Psaki: I think that any local department would argue that keeping cops on the beat to keep communities safe, when they had to because of budget shortfalls, – fire, police – that this is something that helped them address crime in their local communities.

Peter Doocy: It wasn’t local communities. The White House’s argument was that the American Rescue Plan is going to be $1400 checks, it’s going to be vaccines, vaccinators, it’s going to put us on the path to beating the virus. Not –

Jen Psaki: It does those things as well It was a pretty good piece of legislation.

Peter Doocy is asking an excellent question. He’s basically pointing out that the absurd talking point that Republicans defunded cops because they didn’t vote for Biden’s 2 trillion spendapalooza bill isn’t back up by Biden’s own rhetoric about the bill at the time. That it wasn’t about funding cops at all, but rather about state and local budget shortfalls because of COVID.

Psaki responds by claiming that local departments would argue that it helped fight crime. But this is a dumb response, because that was never Biden’s justification in the first place. It’s like they’re trying to go back in time and change their rationale so they can get a slam in on Republicans or something.

Secondly, what makes this even more absurd is that the bill passed. They used reconciliation to ram it through, so regardless of the fact that Republicans didn’t vote for the bill, the money still got the the states and localities.

We all know Democrats are the ones who want to defund cops and it’s kinda hilarious that they are now trying to pin that on Republicans.

Just listen to Democrat Chris Wallace try and make this same argument yesterday:

This is such an idiotic talking point that it’s embarrassing that Wallace even asked about it. Democrat cities like Portland and Minneapolis DID defund police (and they are reeling because of it now), while many other Democrats were making the argument until it became electorally unpopular and they began to backtrack. Even Biden told a man in a wheelchair that he was all about replacing cops with social workers.

Wallace should know better, but I guess he has to help push the propaganda.
