The White House is once again forced to do clean up after Joe Biden committed another gaffe yesterday in his comments to reporters.
First, here’s what Biden told Fox News reporter Peter Doocy:
“None of the three occurred. You interpreted the language that way. I was to the troops. We were talking about helping train the Ukrainian troops that are in Poland. That was the context….”
That’s right. Biden said that US troops in Poland were training Ukrainian troops that were in the country.
But the Commander of the United States European Command and NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Tod Wolters, said that’s not true:
General Tod Wolters, Commander of the United States European Command and NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, appeared to contradict President Joe Biden during a Tuesday Senate Armed Services Committee meeting, saying the U.S. was not training Ukrainian troops in Poland.
“I do not believe we are in the process of currently training military forces from Ukraine in Poland,” the general said in response to a question from Republican Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas during the hearing, which Newsweek attended.
“There are liaisons that are there,” he added. “They’re being given advice, and that’s different than I think (what) you’re referring to with respect to training.”
On Monday during a White House press briefing, the president appeared to reveal that American forces were actively training Ukrainian troops for battle. POLITICO reports that this was the first public acknowledgment of such involvement.
After being pressed further, the president said, “I was referring to being with, and talking with, the Ukrainian troops that are in Poland.”
And the White House also said that’s not true…
In a statement issued to POLITICO from the White House regarding these remarks, a spokesperson said, “There are Ukrainian soldiers in Poland interacting on a regular basis with U.S. troops, and that’s what the president was referring to.”
Either Biden slipped up and told us the truth or his mouth is again running at a different speed than his brain. Another day, another Biden gaffe.
