White House issues statement on Trump and Dr. Fauci

Yesterday Trump put out a tweet that has led some to believe that he may not be happy with Dr. Fauci, to the point that he might fire him:

But according to White House spokesman Hogan Gidley, Trump was only exposing how the media was pushing a falsehood about his decision to ban flights from China at the end of January:

In case you can’t see the statement, here’s what it says:

“This media chatter is ridiculous – President Trump is not firing Dr. Fauci. The President’s tweet clearly exposed media attempts to maliciously push a falsehood about his China decision in an attempt to rewrite history. it was Democrats and the media who ignored Coronavirus choosing to focus on impeachment instead, and when they finally did comment on the virus it was to attack President Trump for taking the bold decisive action to save American lives by cutting off travel from China and from Europe. Dr. Fauci has been and remains a trusted advisor to President Trump.”

It sounds like Trump and Fauci are as snug as a bug in a rug based on the statement. I’m sure the media will be asking a ton of questions about their relationship as well as the comments Dr. Fauci made over the weekend that are being referenced in the tweet Trump retweeted yesterday.
