White House says Trump believes he has the power to fire Mueller…

The White House today suggested Trump, who is very unhappy with Mueller, affirmatively believes he has the power to fire Mueller without going through Rod Rosenstein:

NY POST – The White House on Tuesday said President Trump believes Robert Mueller’s investigation has “gone too far” and that he believes he has the power to fire the special counsel.

“He certainly believes he has the power to do so,” Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in response to a question at the White House briefing.

Asked if Trump would have to order deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who’s overseeing the Mueller probe, to fire the special counsel, she disagreed, citing legal experts and the Department of Justice.

I’d love to say I don’t think Trump will outright fire Mueller, as many warn against. But honestly, with Trump it’s really hard to say given his angst about it. Just today he tweeted the follow:
