The other day, when news of a high dollar Trump fundraiser in Beverly Hills was reported in the Hollywood Reporter, Will and Grace star Eric McCormack told the Hollywood Reporter to “kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx.” (h/t: DC Examiner)
Hey, @THR, kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx. https://t.co/7W3xPG3bI2

Debra Messing quickly retweeted it, calling for a public list of the attendees:

Please print a list of all attendees please. The public has a right to know. https://t.co/YV4UoxrPHI

Well that didn’t go over well at all and, fast forward to today, both Messing and McCormack are backtracking:
My friend eric_mccormack posted this today. It perfectly explains the intent behind each of our posts concerning the fundraiser. I am posting it here because, honestly, I couldn’t have said it better. https://t.co/Jqe4l6ZeJj

McCormack says he doesn’t support discrimination of any kind, but he literally said “so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with”. How is that not discrimination?
Ted Cruz picked up on this as well:
I’m glad they apologized (sort of). But this text essentially says: “I don’t support blacklists. I just want to publicize a list of everyone who disagrees w/ me politically so they can be denied employment or fired & harassed in public by an intolerant mob.” #NeedsADictionary https://t.co/97XrgXQKIz

Exactly. And Cruz knows something about being harassed by an intolerant mob. This is what they wanted.
