Upon announcing that he’s selected Pete Buttigieg as his transportation secretary, Biden totally botched the name of his husband (ew) by using a female name instead:
NY POST – President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday mangled his rollout of Pete Buttigieg as the “first” gay Cabinet nominee — using a female name for Buttigieg’s husband and omitting mention of President Trump having named the first gay Cabinet-level member.
Biden noted his fondness for Buttigieg’s husband “Kirsten” during a speech in Wilmington, Del., as he formally named the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor as his nominee for transportation secretary.
“And by the way, Jill and I have always enjoyed seeing Pete and Kirsten — Chasten I should say — together on the trail. Chasten has become a close friend of Jill’s and mine.”
Ugh. I hate reporting on stories that include ‘his husband’ because it seriously grosses me out. But I felt it necessary to post this regardless of the ewww factor.
Biden also claimed that Buttigieg would be the fist gay ‘nominee’ for a Cabinet position. While that’s technically true, Ric Grenell was the first openly gay man to be selected for a Cabinet position, who was selected by Trump:
Biden also snubbed Ric Grenell, who Trump celebrated this year as the first gay Cabinet member when he worked three months as acting Director of National Intelligence.
Buttigieg would be the “first ever openly gay nominee to lead a Cabinet department,” Biden said.
Grenell was not confirmed by the Senate to his Cabinet-level job overseeing spy agencies, but on social media, Republicans accuse Biden of parsing details to dubiously claim the first gay Cabinet pick in a snub of Grenell and Republicans.
Grenell was never a nominee and thus not confirmed. But liberals can’t be expected to celebrate Trump for living up to their own standards, right? They are so filled with hate for Trump that won’t even acknowledge that he did it first.
