Police were making a routine traffic stop in New York on Saturday morning after a driver ran a red light. When they pulled the car over, the driver was uncooperative and agitated, and then threw a bleach-like chemical at the officers.
The driver, Lionel Virgile, then took off, and police pursued. During the chase he threw LIT molotov cocktails at the cops. After he was arrested they found more molotov cocktails in the car.
Police are investigating the possibility that he ran the red light specifically to bait police to pull him over, so he could lure them to the car and attack them.
One of the officers was injured during the incident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The police commissioner oints out that this is what cops face at any moment. A situation that can change in an instant. Danger hiding even in a routine traffic violation.
This is another reminder of how quickly a situation can change, & the dangers your cops face every day while they’re protecting NYers.
Even after arrest, the investigation into this attack remains active.

Here’s a local news report with more details and some weird liberal spin mixed in. When the reporter says they’re trying to determine whether he was “intentionally targeting” police, it sounds stupid because she says it wrong. What they are trying to determine, as I said above, is whether he intentionally ran the red light to bait cops.
Lionel Virgile will be in court this afternoon on federal charges, including arson.
The war on law enforcement is going to end very badly for this country.
