Maybe the real career progressive Democrats are pursuing isn’t politics but “epic wrongness.” It sure seems that way sometimes.
Once again, the foot-stomping, feelings-hurted Democrats are outraged over something most Americans want, and happy about preventing something most Americans didn’t want prevented. This time, it’s the Trump administration’s reasonable plan to ask in the census — you know, that big important thing that tells us who is here, how many, and what the demographics are? — to have a question asking whether the respondent is a citizen or not.
Some other places that ask if you are a citizen are passport offices, employment forms, DMVs, health insurance paperwork, life insurance paperwork, and legal proceedings. BUT NOT THE CENSUS BY GUM, say Democrats over their stupid line in the sand.
But the latest YouGov shows just how dumb that sand line is. In numbers. And those are numbers are 53% vs. 32%.
You see, here in America, 53% is called a “majority.” I can have Beto repeat that in Swedish or something if you’re not clear. It means “most” or “the big slice,” or “the lion’s share” or … well y’all get the picture.
The latest Economist/YouGov poll found that 53% feel it should ask the question versus 32% who don’t.
The survey asked: “Do you think the federal government should or should not ask people whether they are American citizens as part of the 2020 census?”
