My “OMG I can’t believe this” file is absolutely overflowing this election, and I have to stuff the newly revealed tidbit that BOB DOLE arranged the controversial call between Trump and Taiwan!?
Chinese officials had suggested late Friday and early Saturday that they were willing to overlook Mr. Trump’s precedent-breaking phone call with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, which a transition official said had been arranged by Bob Dole, the former Republican senator and presidential nominee. The call went beyond pleasantries and included a discussion about China and stability in the Asia-Pacific, according to a person familiar with the call. The Chinese directed their ire at Taiwan and not at Mr. Trump.
I don’t even know how to process this:
Mr. Dole, in an interview, said the law firm he is affiliated with does work with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S., and that the firm played a role in arranging the phone call. “It’s fair to say that we may have had some influence,” Mr. Dole said.
This adds credibility to the Trump team’s contention that they had been planning this and it is a part of some brilliant Asian policy that the Donald has had in mind for years, but I am skeptical.
Especially since the idiot said this on Twitter:
The President of Taiwan CALLED ME today to wish me congratulations on winning the Presidency. Thank you!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 3, 2016
Sooo… the Taiwanese contacted the 500-year-old Bob Dole to get in touch with the Donald just to congratulate him? And also he had been planning this beforehand. I am bewildered.
