As he was leaving the White House in the last hour on his way to his Raleigh rally tonight, President Trump stopped to take questions from reporters who pretend that he never takes questions. (He usually stops to take their questions.)
Of course he was asked about why he created a mail bomber on purpose by always stubbornly refusing to agree with and celebrate every critical news story about him.
One of his answers to the questions he “never” answers is already causing fits on the media left (what’s the difference?), is when he said that he’s already toned down his criticism and that he could actually tone it back up and it would still be fair.
“Well I think I’ve been toned down, you want to know the truth, I could really tone it up, because as you know the media’s been extremely unfair to me and to the Republican party. I think the media’s been very, very unfair in terms of the Republican party and the way it’s been covered, and they understand that, they write articles about that, many of them admit that, but the media has been unbelievably unfair to conservatives, Republicans, and certainly to me. But with all of that being said, we’re winning.”
Although Republicans were shot at and Steve Scalise nearly killed, the media that’s freaking out has not toned down their anti-GOP or anti-Trump rhetoric. In fact they practically held a crucifixion of new lifetime-appointed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who is on the Supreme Court as a Justice in case I didn’t mention it too bad so sad. In other words, they toned it up first.
Watch his comments above. Here are some media people freaking out about it, and who they are with.

Trump threatens to “tone it up” again since media has been so unfair to him. And yes, this is after the arrest. https://t.co/pGiMUCrdKp via @TPM

An exciting hobby is going to the Twitter accounts for these people and seeing how “toned down” their rhetoric against Republicans is.
Of course, it would be impossible for Trump to tone it up from “enemy of the people” which is about the maximum bad thing to say about the press for a national leader. It’s basically declaring them a literal enemy of the state, and enemies of the state don’t fare well. So toning it up would not only be totally bad but probably impossible. What else can he say?
But you can spare me the moral indignation, commenters, because there are bullet wound scars on the GOP side, and if you want to blame rhetoric, better blame your own. If you want to talk about tone better talk about your own. You don’t get to run TalkingPointsMemo and then have a hissy fit about tone. Sorry buddy, you’ll just have to recuse yourself.
Or to put it another way, if you want Trump or anyone on the GOP side to tone things down instead of up, try leading by example.
Tone it down? You first.
