“You will not summon me” – Dave Chappelle RESPONDS to trans backlash, says he won’t bend to anyone’s demands

Dave Chappelle gave a strong response to the backlash he’s been receiving since his comedy show aired on Netflix.

Here’s what he said:

Chappelle starts by correcting misreporting in the press which said he’d been invited to speak to the transgender community at Netflix and he refused. Chappelle says that’s not true, that he was never invited.

“That is not true. If they had invited me, I would have accepted it, although I am confused about what we’d be speaking about.”

Chappelle goes on to say that no film studio or company will touch his new film now because of the backlash and that Netflix is the only one that hasn’t cancelled him yet.

He also pointed out that what’s behind all of this is NOT the transgender community, but says “Do not blame the LGBTQ community for any of this. It’s about corporate interests, and what I can say, and what I cannot say.” He adds that everyone in the transgender community that he knows has been gracious to him.

Lastly, he adds that he is more than willing to give the transgender community an audience, but says “you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands.”
