This here is the GREAT example of just how absurd it is in Turkey right now

As many of you know we have the antichrist nation of Turkey resurrecting the Ottoman Empire right before our eyes as they just gave their thug-dictator-with-a-god-complex all the power he needs to do it.

After crushing all of his opponents in the country after the phony-baloney coup last year and turning the news media into nothing more than pro-Erdogan propaganda outlets, he finally turned his eyes onto the voters themselves and crushed them in the election two weeks ago.

But what isn’t new is how Erdogan has been arresting people for ‘insulting’ him for years now.

There was a specific case where someone on social media created a photoshop of Turkey showing Erdogan’s head on a rooster. It also showed his former prime minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, on the head of a hen kissing the foot of the rooster.

The man responsible for the image, Hasan Akkaya, was arrested and charged with almost a $1,700 (6,000 in Turkish Lira) fine:

TURKISH MINUTE – Hasan Akkaya was sentenced to one year in prison by the Karşıyaka 1st Penal Court of First Instance in İzmir province for insulting President Erdoğan on social media with a photoshopped image in which Erdoğan was depicted as a rooster and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu as a hen. The court converted the sentence to a TL 6,000 fine.

But Hassan appealed the decision and won. You know why? Because Erdogan is the cock in the picture:

Agreeing that the rooster is superior to the hen and that there is no insult of the president in the picture, the court decided to acquit Akkaya.

I just about fell out of my chair laughing when I read that. So as long as Erdogan is a cock, it’s a-ok. But if he’s a hen, then that’s insulting! LOL!

I’m not sure what’s funnier, the picture of Erdogan with a rooster mohawk or the court decision itself! I think I’m going with the photo.

But honestly, the fact that this is even in the court system in the first place just underlines how absurd things are in Turkey right now.

Oh well. Consider this to be your open thread for the afternoon.
