David Gergen, who’s been around politics longer than I’ve been alive, weighed in tonight on CNN on the celebrity bout between Omarosa and Trump.
And here’s what he said is one of the most disturbing things about this fight:
In short, Gergen regurgitates the ‘Trump is racist’ crap that’s been coming out of the media lately, by saying that what’s disturbing to him is that Omarosa is black, and that the black community has to hear Trump call another black person dumb.
Wow. I mean…you’d think he’d go with something about how Omarosa was illegally taping people in the White House, including the president. Or that she’s trying to bully the president of the United States, as Amanda Carpenter pointed out. Or that Trump admitted keeping her on because she said GREAT THINGS about him, against the advice of his Chief of Staff. Or that Trump hired her in the first place, knowing that she was a backstabbing liar and what not.
I mean seriously, take your pick.
But no, he goes with the recent and provably false narrative that Trump is only calling black people dumb.
Of course he said today that she is “vicious but not smart”, but he says that about a lot of people that attack him—white or black. Click on the links above to see where we’ve showed that to be true.
That said, I’m not going to applaud Trump for all of his attacks. I don’t think he should have ever called NFL football players ‘sons of bitches’ last year. But it’s just wrong to paint him as a racist based on this data. But that seems to be the new narrative that the media are running with. And it’s dumb.
