Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock announced a short time ago that congregants at the California church where 5 people were shot subdued and disarmed the shooter, and then hogtied him with extension cords as they wait for police.
“He was detained when the deputies arrived,” said Hallock.
“That group of churchgoers displayed what we believe is exceptional heroism and bravery in intervening to stop the suspect. They undoubtedly prevented additional injuries and fatalities.”
The Undersheriff explained that they do not believe the man, described as an Asian man in his 60s, lives in the area. They do not know if he has any connection to the church or any of the congregants, or whether he had any specific motive or target.
