Ted Cruz demands federal investigation into Portland MAYOR over Antifa attack on Andy Ngo

Senator Ted Cruz is now calling for a federal investigation into the mayor of Portland for apparently allowing Antifa scumbags to attack Andy Ngo.

Here’s more:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a prominent conservative and member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, wants federal authorities to investigate and prosecute the mayor of Portland, Ore., after Cruz accused him of ordering police to allow attacks against a conservative activist.

“To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists,” Cruz tweeted early Sunday, referring to Democratic Mayor Ted Wheeler.

Wheeler, who is also the police commissioner, has come under criticism after Andy Ngo, a sub editor and photojournalist for Quillette, a conservative online publication, was reportedly assaulted by antifa protesters, leaving him with scratches and a black eye.

Rival demonstrations by far-right and anti-fascist groups turned into violent street clashes in Portland on Saturday, resulting in multiple injuries and arrests. Police reported the demonstrations became violent when some demonstrators starting throwing milkshakes of quick-drying cement and using pepper spray.

Here’s a video about the attack:

  1. I agree with Cruz except IMO he didn’t take it far enough. Investigate the Mayor who didn’t protect ANY of his citizens from ANTIFA. Everyone has glomed onto the story about Andy Ngo because he’s the kind of person the left usually loves, but that doesn’t mean the rest of Portland’s citizens should be ignored because they aren’t semi-famous.

  2. Shoot the bastards when they attack. Won’t be any more attacks.

    See how simple that was?

    1. @texas-chris I do believe the 2nd Amendment has something to say about these domestic terrorist.

  3. -Declare masked assailants and protesters as enemy combatants
-Rules of Engagement to include deadly force when indicated
-prosecute mayors, local governments et al when policy allows for assault on citizens

  5. Normally, I don’t like the feds going in and over a local matter….but it’s obviously warranted in this case. This Mayor needs to be arrested and fired for dereliction of duty.

    1. Not in Portland. In Portland it’s Protect the Thugs and let citizens get beaten bloody.

  6. Ted Wheeler is either on the take or the most cowardly scumbag on the face on the earth. Maybe both.

  9. Sure, Ted. I’m sure they’ll get right on that. But first we have to look into AOC’s bill for a congressional salary increase.

  13. From The Daily Wire
On Saturday, three far-left Antifa protesters were arrested in Portland, Oregon. The violence during the organized counter-demonstration was well-documented online, and included shocking video wherein Antifa members viciously assaulted and robbed journalist Andy Ngo. It’s unclear, however, if any of the arrests were made in connection with the attack on Mr. Ngo, who reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage, among other injuries.

  14. Antifa is a George Soros bought and paid for domestic terrorist group. George Soros said at one point that he was really scared at how much Trump was able to accomplish in his first few years. Of course he is, Trump is doing what he can to stop those like the terrorist supporting Soros, who obviously have a quest to destroy America.

On another note, the July 4th celebrations in DC ought to be a hoot. Code Pink is going to try to fly a Trump baby blimp as a protest. Other lefties are planning a flag burning agenda. I have a funny feeling they will never be the major story.

      1. I heard a report on radio news this morning from DC, they are still working out the logistics such as where to put the magnetometers to get the most people through quickly. That is likely right in the immediate area where Trump will be speaking. Hopefully Code Pink’s permit has them outside of that area where target practice can take place.

    1. @Scope – I have to laugh every-time the “baby Trump blimp” is mentioned. :facepalmg: What are they – children? Such childish mockery needs to be ignored and so do they.

Code Pinko is irrelevant and has been for some time. Code nutbag hags is more like it.

  15. You are using something posted at the Hill which said in their article that NGO was “left with scratches and a black eye.” Come on bro ,get real. He was admitted to the hospital according to other reports for having “brain bleeding.” He wasn’t attacked with an ice cream and milk milkshake, those milkshakes contained something like Quickcrete which has chemicals which cause burns, and make that milkshake more heavy and injurious to the person attacked.

    1. I posted this below, but it bears repeating:

“Andy Ngo,,,was reportedly assaulted by antifa protesters, leaving him with scratches and a black eye.”

Andy wasn’t REPORTEDLY assaulted, there’s actual video evidence of the assault.

Antifa didn’t reportedly assault Andy, either. There’s clear video of them doing so.

Andy has more than scratches and a black eye, but some sort of damage to his brain.

    2. These are potentially deadly attack’s, it is is within current jurisprudence to defend oneself against physical harm and potential death with deadly force

      1. CaptBill- I agree with you completely. I read a tweet in the last few days which said that if Andy Ngo even dared to try to fight back he would be the one thrown in jail, while the militant anarchists walk free to organize more attacks. I’ve read that there was a group who were going to go to the DC July 4th event to burn American flags. I guarantee Antifa will be there. They’ve had American flag burning rallies before.

  16. When a Mayor or Police Chief refuse to fulfill their responsibilities, should action not be taken against them? Do we not have overwhelming evidence in international and American History that blanket persecution of others is detrimental to everyone. Have we not witnessed or learned from history that unchecked abuse of others never ends well for everyone involved?
    Quote:
“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Sir Winston Churchill
Sounds like Ted Wheeler never learned History.

  17. I’m with you on this, Beard – but let’s be real, how often does a federal investigation into this sort of thing ever bear fruit?

Police have been ordered to ignore tons of stuff. The stuff they SHOULD be looking into. And then they do precisely that. (And I won’t even go down the tangent of what they spend their time doing instead, to harmless Joe American just trying to get to and fro in his daily life.) A federal investigation isn’t going to stop that. So long as the discretion is in the hands of people who want to sic the dogs on easy targets instead of difficult ones, this will persist.

Fascinating that this comes out of Sky News Aussie, and not any American msm news outlet.

  18. Hopefully Cruz stays on this. And hopefully Attorney General Barr gets after it. This is ridiculous.

      1. What other definition of them could there be? Remember, around the inauguration, they were caught on camera scheming on how to carry out all manner of vandalism and sabotage. Stuff that could get people killed. If muslims were caught on tape planning these same things they’d be called terrorists in a heartbeat. Rightfully so.

        1. @agesilaos I’m glad to hear that, and it begs the question why the police let them take control over the streets.

          1. Because Antifa has a hold of Portland and other coastal cities like the klan used to have on the deep South.

          2. To frighten anyone who might not agree with their agenda. Who wants to get beaten bloody just for going to listen to a speech?

            1. @kenoshamarge No doubt. That older guy’s head had some really nasty gouges in it. It’s too bad they couldn’t charge them with attempted murder and terrorism (it’s political). A-holes on the left were laughing about it being “milkshakes”. Yeah, milkshakes full of quick drying cement. This is attempted murder for sure.

              1. Criminal assaults at the very least by domestic terrorists. And doesn’t it meet the requirement to be a “hate” crime?

                1. @kenoshamarge Maybe it does. I don’t know what constitutes a hate crime other than it being racial.

                2. @kong1967 – okay then it doesn’t. There isn’t anything racial about this – it’s the ideas they hate not the skin color.

And their treatment of Andy Ngo proves that even their love for gays didn’t protect him. But then he’s Asian, who are too smart for the left to love, and he’s fair and seems unbiased – and that will never do.

                3. @kenoshamarge Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t trying to say that I don’t see a hate crime. I just don’t know what all falls in that category. I know racial motive is one. There could be others.

                4. No harm – no foul – I don’t know either. Sure seems like hate to me even if it doesn’t meet the legal criteria. But most of what is being said and done by the left these days seems like hate.

                5. @kenoshamarge Yeah, no doubt they are acting out in hate.

The left points at Trump and the right as being divisive. They need to look in the mirror. Their witch hunt is extremely divisive along with their hateful rhetoric.

                6. Dividing us is one of their tactics. And sadly it’s working very well. Their control of media and academia is what has made it work so well for them.

So many of those spouting the bull crap they’ve been indoctrinated with haven’t the brains to see they are just useful idiots. And they must remain idiots to remain useful.

  19. Oh I wish I could be 25 again and put on those streets for the day. Give me four shots of tequila, a couple oxycodone, an aluminum tee ball bat and some wireless earbuds with Metallica playing. And some friends. Wait for antifa to get violent. Go to work.

  20. Thank you Ted Cruz!!! Wheeler must be afraid of these thugs. Something HAS to be done about Antifa!

    1. Wheeler afraid of those thugs? Not likely, those thugs are the militant arm of his own party.

  21. I agree with Senator Cruz 100% that Mayor Wheeler should be investigated, especially with him being the police commissioner.
BUT for him to be prosecuted it would seem the FBI would need several police officers to come forward and testify that they were ordered to stand down and let Antifa avoid arrest. I’m not a lawyer, but that would seem to be criminal negligence on Wheeler’s part.
Where is Slanty or Don when we need them? 😉

    1. I saw somewhere where the mayor said he supported the police in standing down. Obviously there was an order. Ngo waited 30 minutes before they finally arrived!! If they’re that useless what’s their purpose!?

    1. I write Portland off every time they re-vote to keep the “You can’t pump your own fuel” laws.

  22. The “Far Right?” What is this mythical far right, people that refuse to toe the leftist theology?

    1. I thought it funny that they categorized those punks as literal “anti-fascists”. My a$$.

      1. That’s because so many on the left didn’t fare well with their vocabulary words when they were in school. Or maybe they aren’t teaching vocabulary words these days. Because from what I see and hear if one of the monkeys uses a word they all start using the word. Thus AOC, the dumbest monkey in the troop uses the word “literally” often and now the rest do too.

As Inigo Montoya said in the Princess Bride:

“You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means.”

    2. @drkjk That is a quote from “The Hill” – and if you hit the link above you’ll see the whole article this was lifted from.

The tone of piece is kinda “even handed” – ugh – as it presents the event as two extreme groups going after each other. Really? Is that what happened? Check out this paragraph:
      ——————
“Rival demonstrations by far-right and anti-fascist groups turned into violent street clashes in Portland on Saturday, resulting in multiple injuries and arrests. Police reported the demonstrations became violent when some demonstrators starting throwing milkshakes of quick-drying cement and using pepper spray.”
      ———————
Note this is where the ambiguous writing appears (see our discussion below).

As for the arrests, you would think it would be a clear case, right? But not so fast. Check this out:
      ———————
“Three protesters were later arrested, though
police did not say whether the arrests were in connection with assaulting Ngo or for other conduct.

Gage Halupowski, 23, was charged with multiple counts of assault, including on a public safety officer; James Stocks, 21, was charged with harassment; and Maria Dehart, 23, was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment, according to Portland police.”
      ———————-
Hmmm, I wonder if those protesters were those nutty FAR RIGHT ones….

  23. God bless Ted Cruz! I sincerely hope this goes somewhere. I think most of us can agree that this has gone too far and gone on long enough. It is indeed time to investigate this scabby mayor and label Antifa for what they are: Domestic Terrorists.

OTOH, maybe he was applying the term to the protesters:

“…was reportedly assaulted by antifa protesters”

      1. Yes, it was poor ambiguous writing. Writers should never assume the reader has the same view point as the writer. More correctly the sentence could have been written, “Andy Ngo….was assaulted, reportedly by Antifa protesters,….”

        1. @drkjk Yes, much better. That clears it up.
