Ken Paxton was impeached by the Texas House of Representatives Saturday. That means, in Texas constitutional terms, that the House – which is led by the GOP under Dade Phelan – voted to approve the resolution that there was sufficient cause to impeach him in the House and send the case to the Texas senate for an impeachment trial.
Yeah, it’s weird. It’s like he’s impeached and not impeached at the same time. Schrödinger’s impeachment.
But he’s effectively off the job, suspended pending that trial and Greg Abbott can appoint a temporary replacement to perform the role of Attorney General in the state.
But oh yeah, speaking of Gov. Abbott — where you at bro? Some pretty important folks are asking. Like this guy:
That’s a really good question, y’all. Abbott hasn’t said a thing and he WAS posting online yesterday. Trump did, speaking out against the whole process and Dade Phelan, calling it unfair and demanding to “free Ken Paxton.”
Bu Abbott? Crickets. What’s up with that, Gov??
