Google has REMOVED Parler from the Play store.
“In order to protect user safety on Google Play, our longstanding policies require that apps displaying user-generated content have moderation policies and enforcement that removes egregious content like posts that incite violence. All developers agree to these terms and we have reminded Parler of this clear policy in recent months,” reads the dystopian 1984 message from Google.
“We’re aware of continued posting in the Parler app that seeks to incite ongoing violence in the U.S. We recognize that there can be reasonable debate about content policies and that it can be difficult for apps to immediately remove all violative content, but for us to distribute an app through Google Play, we do require that apps implement robust moderation for egregious content,” it continues. “In light of this ongoing and urgent public safety threat, we are suspending the app’s listings from the Play Store until addresses these issues.”
“Incite violence” is the same rationale all the tech dictators are using to purge every MAGA and pro-Trump group, including Twitter’s reason for banning Trump himself. And they are referencing the protests in D.C. as their “ongoing and urgent public safety threat,” just like all the platforms purging the right are doing.
That word, incitement, may have a definition under the law, but it is not a legal term here. It’s a loose term that they define for themselves, and which can be used to ban anyone or any group of anyone that they find unclean. Like “hate speech”, the courtroom word and the tech and pop culture word are not the same thing.
It’s a blanket term. They can say that simply saying there was election fraud is an incitement. That simply saying you support Trump is incitement. How about a picture of yourself in a MAGA hat?
Ask libs online and MOST of them would AGREE the hat is incitement. It was one of the key arguments they made about Nick Sandmann in D.C. That simply wearing the MAGA hat is hate speech.
But we’re SUURRE Trump joining Parler has nothing to do with it, right?
This banning of speech was called for by CNN’s FDABG Brian Stelter long before any breach of the Capitol grounds.
